K.C. Keeper Hartman shrugs off ‘bottle incident’
By Jeff Tobin • Apr 24th, 2008 • Category: Also NotedWith the game coming to an end and tensions rising, Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper, Kevin Hartman, became a target of a fan’s anger and was hit with a beer bottle. Fortunately it was plastic and even more fortunately for the Wizards team and fans, he did not lose his cool.
“I’m not really sure what the security set up that they have is but I was actually going to have a sip if it was in was the 89th or 90th but since it was around the 85th, I decided to hold off and just throw it in goal,” said Hartman.
The bottle came from the direction of the supporters group area Section 8. However, the regular supporters have taken responsibility for the actions of those that may be new to the supporters section and their policies on behavior.
“This is our home and our field. It’s very important, indeed essential, that we treat it with respect,” wrote supporter Ben Burton at http://www.section8chicago.com/jm3/content/view/155/106/ “There will always be someone that screws up, but more of us must take action to ensure everybody understands such behavior is not accepted in our stadium.”
